Anjali's Oriel Lace Scarf/Stole

I am a blocking convert. I was so nervous that this pattern wouldn't show up. It did not look pretty on the needles.

But I blocked it and literally 80-100 pins later it's looking great.

(My lovely blocking assistant. If by assistant I mean person who jumped on the bed but never actually jumped on the scarf so he could claim he was obeying.)

Not perfect, honestly, I could have used more pins, but I didn't have more. No wonder people use blocking wires. But still it's lovely and I'm happy to give it to Anjali to say thanks for all her hard work with Ciaran.

A New Member of the Family

Barnes and Noble was having a 50% off clearance. After diligent searching I managed to score a knitting book. Please welcome to the library family Hip Knit Hats by Cathy Carron.

I think I'll be going with the "Beth" or "Cosima" when time comes to knit from this book.

Father's and Mother's Day

I made a series of wash cloths for the boy parents and girl parents in our lives. Both sets got there after the holiday itself so I'm post dating this so the boy presents will arrive before they see pictures on my blog. 'Cause I'm pretty sure my father-in-law is addicted to my knitting blog.

There was one I forgot to photograph before mailing it away. I looked like this:

101 Designer One Skein Wonders: A Reprisal

So instead of working on new books in my library I decided to make another project out of this book. Ciaran's physical therapist is moving to Dubai so I wanted to make her a goodbye and thank you gift. I thought a nice light shawl might do the trick. There was a lovely pattern for an Oriel Lace Shawl in 1o1 Designer One Skein Wonders. However, I started it a little later than I planned and realized it wasn't going to happen. So instead I am making her a scarf in the same pattern. I chose a nice light cotton yarn, Paton's Grace in Sky. I think it's lovely and won't be too hot in Dubai's temperate weather.

Here is the work in progress.

It will definitely need to be blocked which I am a little nervous about. The first time I ever blocked anything was today and it was only a washcloth. I don't have mats and pins, oh and knowledge of technique so we'll see how it goes.

Another good trade

I mailed away this calendar which I got on clearance at Barnes and Noble years ago and NEVER used as I just don't crochet.

In return I got two sets of the cutest stitch markers. I love Ravelry. I can't say it enough.

A Sweet Treat

Beckett's best buddy is turning three. She loves to cook and I've been the recipient of her yummy ice cream sundaes at tea parties. I figured she could use a few more treats for her guests. And conveniently that helps me cross off Twenty to Make: Knitted Cakes.

To be honest I'm not quite sure why I bought this book other than for vague reasons that I might put it to the purpose I ended up doing. I do know that I thought it was quirky and fun. And it is. These little treats were the perfect snack of a knit.

Donuts even Homer would covet.
